HI Please can you help. I had the clutch replaced and now the car is stalling when slowing down or stopping at junctions which makes the power steering and brakes seize. Is the clutch dragging (that is what someone suggested) and how can I fix it. Many thanks, Louise

Hello Louise. Can you tell us the year of your Golf 3 and the engine code or at least the CC and if it is diesel or petrol?

Dear Crasher, thank you for replying. The car is an estate 1997 engine size 1984cc engine no. AGG118516. I am sure that it is not an idling problem but something to do with the clutch. Also I have noticed that there is a squeaking noise intermittently when pressing the pedal.

Is it difficult to get the car into gear? If not I can't see it being a dragging clutch. What I suspect is that they have disconnected the battery (which is the correct thing to do) which loses the engine computers learnt values that account for the engine and components ageing. After disconnecting the battery the throttle body has to be re-adapted to the ECU using a diagnostic computer and I suspect this has not been done. Also the throttle body may need removing and cleaning.
