Anything we should know? A6 '05 4.2

Morning Guys,

A freind of mine is looking for a comfy touring bus for his commute to Chamonix from Perth a few times a year.

He's seen this:

Audi A6 4.2 Quattro S Line 4dr Tip Auto 2005

I'm only really up on TDi from my time spent on here, anyone able to offer advice on the good and bad of the 4.2 and anything else with this year of car? i.e is 109,000 miles on a petrol more dangerous than on the TDi?

It won't be cheap, remember you have the same engine as an RS4 albeit de-tuned iirc so expect probably no more than 25mpg on a run!

Hi there,

Hard to say, does it have a full Audi history or has it just been serviced recently by the Audi dealer mentioned? Can you get a look at history to see what has been done, for example has the auto box oil ever been changed, has it only had longlife services etc.

If longlife only there's a higher chance of camchain issues which could be pricey.

Also more info on the ABS fault to see if something simple and cheap to resolve. How did it pass the MOT with the ABS fault, I'd ask when that started then ask date of MOT.

Doesn't mention how many owners.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I got my dad to run the factory spec list and service history through his work and it has some good options and a FASH including required oil changes etc but along with what you've all said above he also spoke with one of the tech's and they said stay clear.

Similar performance to the 3.0 TDi and the fuel economy of a W12, so needless to say my friend is no longer looking at this.
