I tow a single axle Avondale, its max laden weight is 1500kgs, your Audi can tow upto its kerb side weight which is in the region of 1600kgs, although the recommendation is that you do not tow more than 85% of the cars unladen weight which is just over 1400kgs i believe.
I have no problems towing, the 170bhp has ample power, returns about 30mpg, but do sometimes lose a little traction on the front tyres.

I tow about 1580kg, just under the 1600kg limit with a 143tdi, no issues at all (factory tow bar too)

Legally, you can go up to the kerb weight of the car, as Gemini says............ I am right on the limit and its perfectly fine, no problems. Towed up the steep incline on the M5 by Gordano with the cruise set at 62mph in 5th, never missed a beat all the way up!
