    Hi all,

Just joined the forum as I'm a member to various other forums of vehicles I own so thought it would only be right to sign my life away here Be gentle

Now then, I've got a mk6 Golf TDI. I need to fit a towbar to tow my little 750kg utility trailer to shift crap around on so I don't ruin the interior.

I have purchased a flange towbar from the internet which should be here soon. I can fit this with no worries.

The only thing that is concerning me is where I find the electrics. What side of the car does the loom run down? I will be using a bypass relay as I can't really warrant spending the cash on the VW loom. I take it a bypass relay is ok with this new age of car??

Lastly, what is the crack with the vehicle warranty? I bought the car from the dealer and it obviously has VW warranty which I don't really want to void!

    Cheers!

Also, where would be best to take the permanent live feed for the bypass relay?

    Welcome to the forum.

    Sorry I don't need a towbar.

One of our guys had work had one fitted by one of these mobile towbar fitting companies and I believe the towbar module had to be coded with VCDS.

Modern cars (like the Golf) with ESP are a bit tricky and, more importantly, expensive, to fit a towbar to. The ESP system needs to know when a trailer is connected as otherwise it can get confused and do completely the wrong thing (like try to brake when snaking).
