radio code

hi
i have a vw passat 2001 under the battery there is a pool of weter. i have been told the drain holes will be blocked. but to do this i will need to disconect my battery. will i need the code once it has been replaced? the radio has a red flashing diode i have read the booklet but not sure whether to remove battery. thanks for ant help/replies in advance.

Nope you shud't need it, instead of using a manual code "convenience" coding is used. When power is reconnected the radio synchs persumably with the ecu so it can only be used in one car. Worked spot on when i disconnected my battery anyways..

Oh ya theres two drain holes one under the battery and one under the servo, both need to be cleared or water can leak in the air outlets passenger side on RHD models at least. This link may be handy http://www.weirdlittlebiscuit.com/passat/leak/index.htm
