Hi Guys (and potentially Girls )

Now then, having read quite a few threads on what is clearly a site full of very learned people I would ask..................how do I go about updating my MMI software to the latest version? I spoke with Audi technical today regarding a couple of issues surrounding the telephone directory within my MMI and they advised that I should consider a software update?

Very basically, it's just a case of acquiring the 3 update cd's, and putting them in the cd drive, one at a time.. probably better to remove all other discs as well.
Then hold down "RETURN" and "SETUP" for about 5 seconds, until the display changes.

Go to software update, and follow all the next, next etc... There is no need to change any settings, just do the next, next etc... then continue with 2nd and 3rd disks.

I think Yowfailed has MMI 3G. I (think) this has to be done at the dealers due to a link needed with Germany .. Or is that the satnav update, or both?

Many thanks for your response Einstein. This forum is now becoming rather spooky as the learned Chris is spot on! I do infact have the 3G HDD based Nav system. Having said that and having literally just come off the phone to Audi UK I can confirm that Chris is once again stop on. The car is now booked in to have full software update of AMI/MMI systems. They say this work will take at least 2 hours as the download comes from a server based in Germany! This update is being done under warranty so no cost to me

Whilst in the garage they did enquire if I required my HDD based Nav maps also updated.....................at a cost of £395! You can probably guess the response

Its like a second full time job! But its not too bad, I enjoy it

Things will come fast, I knew absolutely nothing about the car when I bought it 3 years ago!

    Thanks Chris

I did consider the £395 map update for a nano second and just as I was about to respond in a very inappropriate manner I realised I was dealing with a blond lovely

On a different note I've just read through a very interesting post initially generated by the very lucky gent with the new A7 and all of its technology. Specifically, the onboard ability to access Google maps by using it's hotstop facility which it gets from your mobile phone. I visited my locate dealer today to have a scratch polished out of a door that was strangely not there when the car went in for service last week! The salesman desperately tried to sell me the new A6 with this very technology and insisted that mobile phone providers would supply a duplicate sim for the phone! Talk about selling blind
