Interior Courtesy Lights - 3 way rocker switch Passat B6 Sport Estate

There are 2 front lights and 2 back lights on the ceiling.

In the front I have 2 ceiling pushbuttons (on-off) which individually operate the front lights (same in the back) and 1 single 3 way rockerswitch which controls all lights as follows:

Off – Operated by door open/unlock – On.

When I open a door (or unlock the car) the NDS front courtesy light does not come on but the other 3 do (1 front, 2 back) (See Photo 1).

When I use the individual pushbutton (2 way) to permanently turn the specific courtesy light on - the front NDS light works fine (See Photo3).

When the single 3 way toggle switch is turned to permanent ON position again the NDS front light fails to illuminate pointing to a problemwith this toggle switch?

It seems to be 1 single bulb when looking at how the DS one lights up so I assume the toggle switch or a connection is affected.

Any thoughts?
