    Hi All.
Sorry if you have covered this one before, i have just brought a b6 Passat lots of miles on the clock but very happy with it.. today the airbag light came on on the dash with the warning message on the screen. i have checked the wiring under the seats and this appeas to be ok. no plugs have come out, so i fired up the laptop to see if i could get a fault code out but vagcom won't connect to the airbag module... i can read the fault codes from the engine. I am wondering if it has it lost the feed to the module if so does any one have a diagram and some pointers what i should check. I had an A6 with a airbag fault (very cold day memory issue in the module) which i reset with a airbag reset tool. i have tried connecting this to the passat but this will not reset it.
    hay help would be great.
    thanks

Thank for the reply but it would need to connect to the module to be able to reset it and this is the problem. it won't connect to the airbag module even to receive the fault code..

i have tryed vagcom 4.2 through a serial cable and vcds through usb, neither one will connect to the airbag module, but will perform a total scan and pull out the engine codes, the airbag reset tool has its own cable and box of tricks...

Check the connector on the radio panel hasn't got damaged/come off, will still need to com it to get rid of it, but a lot of folks unplug it without realising, nice one VW.

What do you mean by vag-com ? The best diagnostic tool for the B6 Passat is VCDS. The old vag-com cables don't work on any passat after 2005. (B5 models)
