Has anyone experienced lack of power from setting off. Ive got a 2.0tdi sport 140bhp and the last few months I noticed the "take off power" was getting worse. I usually fill up at Tesco, I decided to use BP as Tesco was busy, after a few miles my car became alive again. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Never experienced this. I fill up at supermarket filling stations 75% of the time. Thought that all fuel came from pretty much the same refinery.

Try shell v power diesel, it is very expensive but if you add 10 litres of it then take it for a spin on the motorway. See if that works, if not then add normal shell diesel, then add injector cleaner redex or millers.

    Hopefully that should help.

Check the pump at the supermarket while filling up at Morrissons i noticed they dilute their diesel with biodiesel( small print on pump), mine used to smoke like mad when i put my foot down, changed to shell and after every four or five fill ups i put in the V power runs a treat, no smoke and runs great.

That is interesting - I filled up at Morrisons in Berwick on my way back from Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago, and I've had a good few lumpy, smoky starts (there was a right cloud this morning), and a good few clouds of reek when using the loud pedal. I did notice the 7% of bio diesel notice on their pump, but didn't think anything of it at the time.

Tank is nearly empty now, so I will be filling up tomorrow - albeit with Tesco's finest, as I have a 10p off per litre coupon - I'll endeavour to report back if there is any difference.

    Lang may yer lum reek!

I reckon you've got dirty injectors and or a coked up turbo, try some tank additive and go for a nice 50 mile run where you can maintain 70 mph giving it hoofs every now and again until you see no black smoke coming out of the back anymore, p.s new air and fuel filters as well if you are over 40k.

Shouldn't be the case with mine DSG - week before last I drove from London to Edinburgh (not hanging about either), drove around whilst up in Scotland including a 130 mile round trip on one particular occasion, and then drove back from Edinburgh to London; all filters were renewed 7k miles ago.

I've got some Millers left in the boot however, so will put a slug of that in when I fill up tonight.

Update - when I filled up last night, I am embarrassed to say that I was running on the smell of an oily rag (Mrs C had taken my bank cards to work with her by accident, so I was stuffed until I picked her up last night); I filled up at Tesco, and saved the best part of £7 thanks to their current promotion (thank you Tesco!); I also put in a good slug of Millers (about a dose and a half as I managed to dribble some down the side of the car ops.

I didn't notice much difference last night, however this morning the difference is marked - started easier, without smoke or rough running, and has ran much smoother all day, and even seems to be a bit quieter (although I appreciate that could be just in my head). I would even go as far as to say that the car seemed to warm up quicker this morning, although there is no way I can qualify that as the ambient temperature this morning was a wee bit warmer than it has been this last couple of weeks. The one thing that cannot be in my head is the improvement in fuel economy going by the trip computer - at least 4-5mpg better on the same journeys that I do day and daily and have done the entire time I have owned the car.

I had stopped using Millers for a while, as I wasn't sure that I wasn't conning myself, and money was/is a bit tight - however, I am reminded today of the difference it makes, so a new bottle is getting lodged in the boot when I get paid next weekend.
