Hi all, got a hold of an a3 last week, took it for test drive seemed fine, so bought the car, about 15 mins into the journey home, every time i stopped at light ect the car would cut out, so i took it too a garage had diagnostic done that came back with 3 faults, throttle body, mass air flow, and speed sensor (speed doesn't work).

So i replaced the throttle body and mass air flow and its still the same!! i dont want to pay for more diagnostic has the costs are already starting to rise. So wondered if anyone had similar problem or could offer any advice?

Basicly the car starts a little ruff, runs at about 1500rpm then drops after a min or two, then after 10 mins of running just cuts out starts back again after a little persuasion then cuts out? Could it be another sensor? ecu? electrical? would the ecu need to be reset after i replaced the parts??, no engine management light on.

what engine and is it petrol or diesel? your speedo doesnt work? ive had this before and its been a broken wire under the battery, also there is a fuse in the fuse box inside that also does the speedo but isnt marked as doing it, if and im guessing here, its a 1.8 turbo then it could be the ign module that is bolted to the side of the air box, but with out knowing what engine you have this is guess work mate

I havent had much to do with them, ive PMd crasher asking him to see what his thoughts are, sorry i cant help out more mate, but the speedo fault will more than likely be a broken wire under the battery
