I am trying to find out how to remove some or all of the centre armrest assembly. I actually just want some way to attach a bracket to the back of it, on which I will mount a detachable TV screen. Can't believe there is no Haynes manual for this car!

Not sure if the A6 is the same as my A4. Remove rear ashtray to get to the bolt holding the armrest. HTH

You need a hooked tool to pull out the rear ait vent then you can access the bolt and connectors. Bolt is 25 Nm on refitting. Regards Peter

Thanks Peter, any idea which part of the air vent to pull first? I presume then, that the bolt will be at the top of the opening, screwed up into the armrest?

These images show the round ended slots top and bottom where your hook needs to engage for pulling the vent out. If you pull out by the centre part of the vent like I did, you'll spend the next hour figuring out how it all goes back together (if you don't lose any bits)! If you can't see the photo's, right click and "open link in new window" or similar command.

    Ricktherazor,
would you mind trying to post those photos again? I can't access them it seems. Would really appreciate it. I don't want to risk breaking the vents into pieces

Nerver mind, I got it MIT was easy. Just pulling (forcing) out the back part of the side panels on the side of the armrest and then putting my fingers in there and pressing the vent until it popped out.
