Hello,

Im new here and need a bit of help regarding my dads car. He has an A6 C4 2.5 TDI and the fuel pump belt failed while he was on a roundabout. AA towed it to a friends garage. I dont really know what work has been done on the pump itself or if it was damaged. All i have been told is that the belt was replaced and the engine starts and runs for a few minutes and then cuts out. He is know telling my dad that it didnt start?? Anyway my dads asked to to see what info i can find about the problem on the net. I have done a few searches and so far one potential reason that its failing to run is due to the belt not being timed correctly witht he cam belt. Are there any other reasons why its failing to stay running?

in a last attempt he is gonna get the car towed to another friend who seems more helpful in trying to find a diagnosis as the current mechanic has givin up after changing the belt.

Any help is appreciated as my dad need to keep the car going for another 5/6 months before he can consider a new car. On a side note the car is a tank managing almost 600k miles

thanks
