Brake load sensor,

Hello all,

Over the last few months ive noticed that my rear right brake disc doesnt look as worn as the rest especially when the car has been left for a while and surface rust doesnt seem to clear.

So, ive now thought that it could be the Brake load sensor located underneath the car due to it not really working. The spring has snapped off and the lever that adjusts the brake fluid seems seized.

Im grasping at straws at the moment so any help would be greatly appreciated. the car is my beloved 94 plate Cabby 2.6E

Hi Crasher, is the regulator what im talking about 'the thing under the car by the rear right wheel'? And how do you get it working, can you test it some how?

You will need to fit a new valve as they corrode in the pin bore. The AUDI part number is 443 614 151 H and retails for about £115 but you can get them aftermarket from ATE, Girling and others but be careful of the quality.

10. Guide for tension spring
11. Tension spring
12. Brake pipe to rear brake calipers



To properly test the regulator requires a pair of gauges capable of displaying at least 100Bar but a simple functionality lest is to press the brake pedal firmly with vehicle standing on the ground and release it abruptly, the lever of brake pressure regulator must move so you will need someone to help you.



A new regulator needs to be adjusted and to do this ideally the vehicle should be on a 4 post lifting platform, unloaded and the brake system properly filled and bled. Press the brake pressure regulator lever onto its stop. Slacken off the nut by several turns and insert 7 mm diameter drill bit between the tension spring 11 and the guide 10, then tighten nut and remove the drill bit. Make sure the tension spring is positioned in the guide.

Forgive me for my seemingly rude outburst here but I think fitting second-hand brake hydraulic parts is really stupid and it should be illegal except for parts such as reconditioned calipers. You say your Cabrio is beloved, doesn't she deserve an £83.70 new part from GSF? Their part number 653VG0060.
