Hi, everyone. I am quite new to the forum, please forgive me if I have posted this question in the wrong folder.

I have a 5 door 2007 57 reg Polo with a door lock problem. I have read about badly soldered joints and broken microswitches but I do not know if this is only on earlier cars.

    These are the symptoms:

    1. When you open the passenger side front door the interior light does NOT come on.

    2. After unlocking the car if I only open the front passenger side door the car relocks itself as it should do if you unloock the car but don't open a door (so it does not know I have opened the passenger side front door)

    3. If I press unlock once on the fob (should open only the drivers door) the drivers door opens followed by the front passenger side door.

    4. When I am sat in the car and press the button on the door to lock all doors 90% of the time they all lock but the passenger side front one pops back up again. 10% of the time it will not pop back up again.

That door is obviously not reaslising when it is being opened that's for sure.

Please could someone advise me the best course of action?

Thank you in advance for all replies.

I've read all 700+ replies on this thread tonight and it sounds to me like the microswitch which detects whether the door is open or not:

    http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1542461-MKIV-door-locks-explained-why-you-re-having-problems!!!-%28

The problems discussed seem to be a common problem with 1999/2000 MY cars but I think I'll have to open the door up tomorrow and take a look at the door lock mechanism and see if its the same old fault unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Sounds like a microswitch problem to me. Have you found the cause yet?

With regard to the unlocking issue you mention where the passenger door seems to 'follow' the drivers, this seems to be a common feature. There's a VCDS tweak to change from the remote only opening the drivers door and all the doors, but if the full opening is selected, the drivers door unlocks first and then the others unlock a fraction of a second later. This may have been done on your car if it's still playing up.
