Hi have you had your alignment done by any chance, I got mine done a couple of weeks ago, my ESP light then came on,this was due to the wheel not quite being straight. I got it redone and this cured the problem and the ESP light went out. That was on my A3 but might help you hopefully.

Thanks for you reply, I didn't do the alignment, I removed my steering wheel and put it back because I was doing some retrofitting, and this is not the first time I did this, I have done so many times without any issues as I marked the bolt before I removed it, I usually get the ESP light and when I drive a short distance it usually goes off but I have 3 lights on, ESP and ABS are on solid and handbrake light is flashing and occasionally it make a beeping noise ans shows alert on my DIS.

maybe repeat the process and reassemble as it seems to be the common denominator. When put back together maybe something is slightly askew

I have removed it about 5 times today and re-installed, I have removed it before to do a dry run before the retrofit, and I have even removed the Cruise control that I installed thinking that might be the issue but it is not, the coding has wiped, when I try to recode it it just revert back to 00000

Yemiboy - did you ever get to the bottom of this. I had exactly the same thing. Renewed G85 Steering wheel angle sensor - esp light went out but abs had lost its coding. Had it coded by specialist but lost its coding again when i changed the cars battery. Every time the power is disconnected it loses coding - but no faults found on scan.

    Hs a4s line,

I coded it myself because I I have the genuine VagCom cable, did a lot of searching on ross tech website and finally got the right code and it has been fine since.
If yours keeps loosing its code that sounds like it might be faulty, it is normal for it to report error on the dash when you disconnect the battery but when you drive the car a few yards it should correct itself, mine gave proven because I changed the steering to a multi function steering wheel.
