Finally collected my 03 A6 Tdi SE Avant today, but I can't find the VagCom port, tried looking in the centre console and above the pedals, but no sign of it.

    What have I missed

They can be well hidden, without being hidden at all, IYSWIM....

On my A6 (which may of course be completely different) the diag socket is right next to the bonnet release pull. I found it so difficult to find that at first I started to wonder whether the mechanic who I had seen plug in his computer a couple of weeks ago had been just pretending, and conning me.

Anyway, it was there, - I just had to do a headstand under the steering wheel to find it.

    James.

I concur with James - I know it was up in that area on a Y plate Audi A4 I looked at a little while back. I also remember (not sure if it was an A4 or not) having an ODB port UNDER the rear cupholder behind the handbrake. That could have been a golf though - was quite a while ago.
Jason - Rather mad Skoda Fabia driver.... Odd whiff of diesel coming from him.
