Ok bought a cable , and it doesnt seem to fit my purple 16 pin connector under my ashtray on my 1999 sharan 1.9tdi

have i got the wrong cable , i thought a cable was a cable and they were all the same
cable says KKL VAG-COM on it and it connects to via a serial 9 pin on the pc itself

The end of the connector on the cable is generally quite flexible, it may be slightly deformed, and need a little more pressure and wiggling to get into the tight connector.

Do you have a picture of the business end of the cable?

Sometimes the surround of the port is a little too tight.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.
