I'm afraid i cant shed any light. My friend hs the temp prob. If he shorts the wire on the sender to ground the tem needle moves fully to the hot point. When the engine is at opperating tep not a peep from the gauge. Help would also be appreciated by my friend

    Cheers

first of all check the the Temp sender is fitting into a good earth.. If it is then replace temp sender. If no the run a earth cable to the temp sender. outer cashing to the temp sender should be a good earth with low ohms.

    Hope this helps.

Well with all those faults were to start.

looking like you require new clocks... But first of all check that the earth lead to the clocks is good. This is the comon lead for all the above faults.

Might also be you X1 relay..??

    Good advice from willowraf.

I had a similar prob on my scirocco gtx (87).

MFI and rev counter not working in my case,
I'd got a couple of spare instrument panels (with the older econo gauge on),
so thought I'd try a swop, low and behold the rev counter worked!

Unfortunately I couldn't tell whether the MFI worked.

Never thought of checking x relay, nice one.
I checked just about everything else though!

I think quite alot of speedos have an inaccuracy of about 5mph,
I heard the police allow a tolerance for speeding due to speedo inaccuracies,
it might be about 10%, perhaps someone else could confirm this?

P.s. forgot to say, cracking looking motor.
