Hi I've got a 2004 Audi A4 B6 tdi 130 with a manual gearbox and I was wondering if I need to change the gearbox oil. It has 110000 on the clock and plan to keep it as it runs like new.

Certainly wouldn't do any harm. Meant to be a sealed for life unit, but as we all know - Audi tend to take the 'if it ain't broke' approach. If you're doing it yourself, then ensure you can access and loosen the transmission fill bolt before going anywhere near the drain bolt. You'll need a special tool - but can buy it on Ebay. Car needs to be level. Also worth getting it up to temperature before pulling the plug to increase the viscosity. You'll also need a hand pump with tubing to fill it after draining. Audi will sell the exact gear oil you need. Should be fully synthetic GL4 75-90. However if you read other posts - some people will use Redline, etc. More details here on the procedure: http://www.audiforums.com/forum/diy-...sandman-18729/

I'd use an MTF rather than 75w-90 and I would go with the Redline MTL, Amsoil MTF or Fuchs Sintofluid.

only use genuine audi gearbox oil, it really is the best and if you buy another type there is a high risk that you will make the gearbox shift worse and then you have wasted your money, i know through experiance.
id say around 50% of the time trouble getting into first is due to a worn pressure plate in the clutch.
oh and audi gearbox oil in the b6 is definately not 75w90 it is much much thinner than that.
