Hi All, I've posted about this before, but haven't had any replies yet. I changed the front wiper linkage a month ago, and ever since the wipers will only operate for 4 seconds in every 20. They don't park, they just stop wiping wherever they happen to be after 4 seconds. Evenm operating the 'single wipe' by pushing down on the stalk makes them operate for 4 seconds.

I've checked that the park sensor in the motor works OK. The voltage on the supply witing loom seems to be at fault - the voltage on pins 3 & 4 is pulsing on for 4 seconds and then off for 16.
I changed the relay, but that didn't change anything.

In this dreadful, wet weather, the car's virtually undrivable, so I'm going to have to pay Audi to try to diagnose the fault - the best part of £100.

So, before I do that, can anyone suggest what else I should check? Is the power supply operating properly? What else might I look at?

    All advice gratefully received!

Thanks. (I've copied this to the A4 forum, as I think the wiper mechanism is the same)

No, they were absolutely fine before I changed the linkage (except that they were really stiff & slow).

The precise timing of the voltage supply cutting in and out is what's confusing me the most.

    I had similar issues

It turned out to be too much resistance through over tightning something to tight

Try disconecting the linkage at the motor and see if the motor still does the same

If not you need to release and grease up all the connections/joints

Don't over tighten the motor mount or any fixed linkage as the rubbers have some flex in them to allow the linkage to run without resistance

It's a fail safe for the motor, just like the electric windows

I remembering reading something about this.

If I remember correctly, there is a small lever on the wiper motor which needs to be set in the correct position for the wipers to operate correctly. I saw mention of it in a how-to on replacing the linkages.

Please don't do this - it clutters the forum and it confuses people when they're searching for similar issues - I've removed the other 3 threads.
