    Hi All

Just been cleaning the inside of the car and have found the rear drivers side carpet under the seat is wet

I Have checked everywhere else and fine..

From what i have searched here it points to a seal under the ECU box

    Is that correct

I Have checked the drain plugs and working purfect with a hose in the plenum chamber...

Looked inside the the pollen filter box and bone dry....

So am i missing something or go for the seal under the ECU box...

    Info much appreciated

    Kevin

It could be the door/window seal

    Hi

Have a saloon with no sunroof

I know the drain tubes are working so i think i'm going for the pollen filter housing first

Stuck me fingers up the air duct under the seat and it was a bit wet so thinking maybe following that route first....

Trip to B&Q and some silicone i think sunday morning....

Insert clean white paper under the lip of the sill trim then hose the door panel and window for several minues then check for signs of water ingress, this could be a leak behind the door card. For a leak at the pollen filter to reach the rear drivers side it would be a Lot of water. If the top of the carpet is wet then possibly the pollen filer housind but the front passenger carpets would be soaked under neath as the water leaked down behind the carpets. Electronics box leaks normally leads to drips on your feet when driving in the rain. Regards Peter

    Hi Peter

Today i got all dirty and nasty with the plenum chamber

Cleaned all around the pollen filter housing then ran a hose pipe down the window screen while looking down the air box and nothing, bone dry...

    THEN !!!

Noticed the water in the plenum chamber only coming out of one hole and some water being left behind

Yes the one under the Servo was blocked so nice job taking the batt out and metal bits to give it a good clean..

    Sorted i hope..

Should not have to wait to long for a good old british down pour to see if its fixed before i move to the door card

    Thanks...

If water had been entering the car via the pollen filter ofr the filter housing the car would be a swimming pool to get water into the drivers side rear passenger foot well.

If it was entering via the housing not the filter itself then you often do not see any sign of it in the duct unless you lift the carpet.

For water to enter via the housing it does not need the plenum chamber to be full, if there is debris trapped behind the housing then water can creap in.

I have dealt with many of these but to wet the rear drivers side without the passenger side front and rear being under water is a new one on me.

    Regards Peter

    Hi Peter

It had me scratching me head...

I Only noticed when i was lifting the mats out to do a hover and saw water moving around on the end of the hoover pipe

I quickly checked all the other corners of the carpets and bone dry ??

Even the matt i took out was bone dry on top ??

Sometimes god likes to test us with a few curve balls and i wasn't that good at sport either

    Shall be watching closely..

    Thanks

My car had that same problem when i bought it, the only bit of carpet that was wet was behind the drivers seat, anyway with a bit of searching i found the problem to be the door panels (panel that hold the window regulater) the seal around the outside of this had worn away and it was leaking like a sieve and collecting in the rear footwell, this also made the bottom of my seatbelt feel a little damp.
i took the panel off and used a silicon sealant around the panel, i figured this was good as it's not permanent to the degree you can scrape the old silicon off should you need to and it's cheap enough should you need to re-do it.
but my car has been dry as a bone since

    Hi Toonmania

Can the front door panel ie drivers door panel cause this or would it be the back one making the back wet

Why i ask this is 2 months ago i had to replace the drivers window regulator panel due to mechanism failure..

And im sure they did not silicone it back in ??
