    Hi guys,

Have just replaced my battery in the car(1999 golf 1.4 mk4) with a new one, upon tightening of the terminals, my cheap socket wrench broke which made it slip and unfortunately seemed to be the perfect length between the NEGATIVE terminal, and the positive terminal marked 110amps on the plastic box that sits on top of the battery with fuses etc. As you can imagine this resulted in a few sparks, after checking, the battery all seemed ok and electrics in the car worked fine. As I came to start the car it did not start, it turns over fine, but thats all it does, there is petrol in it, but only about a fiver what I did notice is when you turn the key, normally you get a beep telling you that the petrol is low, when you go to start the car, this beep takes about 5 seconds longer.

I have checked the fuses that sit on top of the battery mentioned earlier, and they are a different style to what I am used to seeing in cars, they seem to have half-holepunched legs and no clear top to see if it's blown - does anyone know if this is my problem or would the fuse have a full hole in it if it was blown?

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix it as I'm in the sh*t now.

    Thanks greatly in advance,

    Steve

Sorted it from another forum - it was the fusible link between the positive and the other wires.
