Hello i have a 2.0tdi 170bhp quattro Audi A4 2007. I'm only achieving average 38mpg even on long runs sitting at 80mph on motorway generally. I was thinkin about getting it remapped and phoned a few places and they advised that i would be better removing the DPF, removing the ECR valve and then remapping it to acheive the best results. They reckon i'd get an additional 10mpg without dramatically changing my driving style. Can anyone advise if they have had this done what what their results were like as its £450 to get done. I do about 800 mile a week

    Thanks

    Ruairi

Hi there, I see that no-one has replied to you as yet?? I see you posted this a few months ago so did you ever do anything to your car?
Basically removing an EGR valve is a little bit hit and miss, i have been working/tuning BMW's for the last 2 years and have come across this many times. The best thing to do is to periodically clean the EGR valve and make sure oil breathers are not blocked. As for the DPF, these get blocked from a lot of in town driving. You need to get the car upto say 70mph and keep it there for around 15-25mins continuously so the DPF can regenerate (i.e clean itself out), if this is never done then it never gets to regenrate and so it will block up. Now by removing it physically does help things but you would need a remap that will delete the DPF in the software properly. This then means come MOT time you will need to have the DPF back in place for it to pass when new rules are finally in play.
My old bmw 330D used to return approx 43mpg at 80mph at that was obviously remapped, but everything had been checked and cleaned as needed, so by the sounds of things you simply have a blockage somewhere. I would recommend a FULL service and inspection and see how things go mpg wise then. If the MPG is better then start looking at remaps for even better MPG, smoother engine and performance.
    Hope this helps
