RCD 500 Not Working

My 08 Passat RCD 500 failed to come on when starting the car the other morning and has not worked since. I have checked the fuses including the one in the back of the unit. I have also checked the connector. I have found one pin with 12 volts and I guess there should be another one when the ignition is on.
Anyone had a similar problem and can anyone advise me of the connector pin-out and where I should find 12 volts please?

Hi I have just had exactly the same problem on the wifes car. All ok from a fuse perspective and +12 on the HU (red lead). Did you get to the bottom of this???

Not as yet. The battery (safe) and ignition pins on the HU are permanently connected. It must get it's 'on' signal from somewhere else. I have a small connector with red and blue wires dangling behind HU and don't know if this should be connected. Only clue is that the heater motor control resistor was changed under warranty by a main dealer. Whether they poked about near the switch or not I do not know so I am going to have a word with them. Judging by previous experiences with main agents, I don't hold out much hope!

Thanks for the reply will have a better look today. The HU has a Parrot system connected as well and that all works ok. It is inline with the main loom. I removed it and no difference. I must admit I have started to look for newer units now but the thought of all the grief with the canbus ect is putting me off. Will keep you posted. I think the unit is ok without a switched live in to it as it works incar when you turn it on without the keys in so not sure it is an input thing.
