    Hi folks

The plastic undertray on our 1999 A4 Avant Tdi 90 was hanging down so just for now i have taken it off until i can get it sorted.

How important is it to have this one at all or is it OK to leave it off?

Any help or advice much appreciated.

    Cheers

If the undertray is also used to fix the lower front edge of the plastic guards in the wheel arches, then the air / wind could fold the front of the plastic wheel arch guards and touch the front wheels.

The plastic undertray also helps to prevent stones and other road dirt getting into the engine bay and may have a small impact on improved aerodynamics / fuel economy.

    I would get it re-fixed A.S.A.P.

As suggested - use nylon cable ties to fix it back in place. Useful for aerodynamics, plus it gives your sump, drive-belts, etc, some additional protection once the really bad weather starts.

Wouldn't worry too much, mine hasn't had one for years and I haven't seen any problems with it!

    That's great thanks

I haven't had a chance to try to stick it back on and there certainly has not been any problems so I will leave it for another while -it certainly makes it easier changing the oil which I like to do every 5k miles as there is 195k on the car now.

    Much appreciated.
