    Hi
    I've an a4 B8 with Bi-xenons.
Recently the drivers side headlamp just switches off completely a few minutes after the car starts up. The LED's are fine.
If I switch all lights off and back on again, it can come back on for a minute, or not at all.
I've noticed that there is a slightly different (more white) colour off this driver's side lamp than the passengers. Previous owner may have had one replaced, but hard to know which!

Could anyone shed some light on what may be happening. I presume the bulb/lamp is fine as it works intermittently, so could it be an overheating/power etc issue?
    Very frustrating.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply.
Could you please point me in the direction of a link to this bulletin.
I found one relating to 2.0T, not sure if it's the same. I've a 1.8T.
Also, what do those acronyms mean?
Am I in big trouble expense wise?!
    Thanks again

I had EXACTLY the same problem as you on my 2008 Avant just 2 weeks ago, see this thread:

    https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...-Bulb-Changing

Audi wanted £149 + VAT + labour for 1 bulb (D3S) and of course recomended me to change both.

I bought a pair on Ebay for £35 (with 1 years warranty) and they work brilliantly

Is this something that shows up when running "fault codes diagnostic" using VAG-COM? This is what showed up when I got out my fault codes:

    1 Fault Found:

00978 - Lamp for Low Beam; Left (M29)

012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

    Freeze Frame:

    Fault Status: 00101100

    Fault Priority: 2

    Fault Frequency: 15

    Reset counter: 149

    Mileage: 94207 km

    Time Indication: 0

    Date: 2011.10.29

    Time: 17:10:00

Mine flickerd twice, then it switched off, and the colour was slightly "bluer"

Works fine (so far) with the 2 new Ebay bulbs I bought and I must say, it wasn't too hard to change the bulbs myself, which I was worried about...

Hm, interesting, I still have both of the old bulbs (one faulty of course), I'll check the production date on them. Does this mean that I can go to my local Audi dealer (Camberley, Surrey) and get a replacement bulb free of charge? The car is now 2 months out of warranty, so I guess they'll just laugh at me for even asking right?

Ring the service department and raise the query, if they know of the bulletin then ask for a goodwill contribution, if they accept then refit the bulbs and they will change them
