As the title suggests, when it's raining outside my car, it's also raining inside! Specifically, water is coming through the headlining on the driver's side, above the backrest of the rear seat right next to the door, so it drips then runs down the edge of the seat backrest. There is no sunroof and as it's an allroad it's an estate, but there is an aerial in the right at the back of the roof near the tailgate, in the middle.

The black rubber (?) strip in what appears to be a gutter in the roof looks intact, I haven't pulled it out to see what's underneath, I'm slightly concerned I'll destroy it in the process if I do which is unlikely to make the problem any better.

If anyone has any suggestions where to start looking for the source of the leak, I'd be grateful.

I've also got a problem with the front passenger door not unlocking on the central locking (the button pops up and goes straight back down, even if I try to hold it and/or use the handle at the same time), which is awkward as there's no keyhole on that door so I can't get it open at all.

I would go to a body shop / car painters and get them to replace both sides rubbers.

Rubber and seals over time will go rock hard and start leaking. I would also get the seal for the aerial done.

Then take the leak from there. Its a process of elimination and water has a tendency to run everywhere and throw you off the scent.

the roof leaking is unusual can you actually see water in the roof lining? nly things uop there are the roof rail mounts and that rubber strip, check the rubber mount for the roof rail for cracks, but quite unusual,

the central locking not working, could be a faulty lock or module, any other strange central locking features, does the display in the center of the dash show the correct door open? there is a water drain below the cars batters if blocked look for a water puddle below the cars battery, this would suggest water is flooding and entering the car and getting to the module under the passenger seat if so check for water under the LH front seat (lift the carpet), this is common, I

can you pull the door handle from the inside to open the door? does the door mechanism actually work?

    regards

    Andy

Thanks for the replies. When it rains for a while, water starts to drip through the headlining in the place indicated. There looks to be a section above the window on the off side of the load area that is held on with a single screw, it is the front of that it's coming through so I'm going to try to remove it at the weekend for a closer look, not being at home in daylight in the week at this time of year.

The passenger door won't open on the internal handle either - the pip thing that indicates if its locked comes up but the door doesn't open and the thingy goes back down when the handle is released. It was working a couple of months ago, but I rarely take passengers so don't know when it stopped.
