Not long had my 2000 A4 1.8T Sport Avant and had the engine management light come on several times, sorted a misfire by replacing 2 coils packs, but the code 17536 for it running lean appears every couple of days. Searches show to check the vac pipes under the inlet etc, today I moved the expansion tank to got to the oil filter to change it and I noticed there is a unit under the manifold, there are 2 actually and both have electrical connections, the rear one is a green socket and there is a pipe connection but no pipe is connected, the one further forward has a braided pipe which runs around the front of the block. Does the one without a pipe actually need to have one and if it does, where to? Thanks

What is your engine code, APU? That fault is normally the one way valve under the inlet manifold on the crankcase ventilation system, part number 035 103 245 A or a split in a crankcase ventilation hose.

No, AWT, same valve and problem anyway and it would make it a 2001 model.
