Hi guys, ive got an 07 plate 1.2 Fox with roughly 56k on it. The heater is just blowing cold air! when i turn it to hot the air is slighly different in flow indicating the flap is working but no hot air with unfortunately.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i cant afford to take it to the ********

    Hi,

I'm not sure if the Fox uses old-school cable opperated heater controls or if it's electronic?

If electronic; it could be a problem with the motorised flap which directs the air from the blower towards -or- away from the heater matrix (the radiator that has hot engine coolant flowing through it). Sometimes the motors get stuck or turn beyond their intended stopping point and need manually turning back.

You could tackle this in one of two ways..
    1. Use VAG Com to read fault codes and see if any are listed for central convenience - hopefuly it will identify the exact motor if there's a fault code.

    2. If you don't have Vag-Com, take the glovebox out which should give you access to most of the motors which control the heater matrix flaps. By a proccess of elimination, use the buttons / dials on your heater controls to see what each motor does (sometimes they are colour coded in groups to help you identify whether they control heat selection or which vents the air comes out of).

I suppose the other possibility is that the heater matrix isn't getting hot, does the coolant temparature get upto 90c nice and quickly and stay there or does it fluctuate?

    Al

I hope for your sake it's not a faulty heater matrix.. because changing it is an ugly job... it took me about 8 hours to do it on my Mk3 VR6 Golf:
