    They must be blocked as rainwater is just sitting in the cavity that holds the battery etc. Problem is - I cannot locate the drainage hole - Can anyone help? It is a 1999/2000 Passat

    There are quite a few threads on this. Do do a search on "flooded" or similar from the "search" button up at the top.
