    Hi all
Looking for a bit of help here. Her indoors told me that parking brake error came up on the mfd this morning. I hadn't experienced it myself but just did a scan anyway. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas what the scan results indicate. Its a 2008 2.0tdi cr. There doesn't appear to be any other issues. The scan results are below. Thanks in advance.

Clear the errors, wait a few days and scan again, see if anything comes back. You may have a faulty switch or it may just be an odd error. These can occur when the system gets confused.

I had a simlar experience but in mine the park brake would not switch off. I was at a fuel station and it was embarresing! I disconnected the battery, waited 10 secs and reconnected. The park brake switch functioned OK.
I carried out a scan when I got home and the DTC for park brake failure was live. I subsequentely replaced the switch, cleared the DTC and had no more problems. I understand that the switches have been the source of a few problems as my dealer had some in stock. Good luck.

Dead easy - ignition off, key out, open the drivers door, and on the side of the dashboard there is a removable plastic panel - pop it off (it only clips on) to open up the side of the dashboard, and you will see the wires going into the wiring plug at the back of the switch. Simply push the switch from behind so it pops out the front of the dash, which will then give you access to the plug; there is a small locking tab which needs to be popped up to allow the plug to be unplugged.

And to steal a phrase from good old Haynes manuals - fitting is the reverse of removal.

    Lang may yer lum reek!
