So, a few weeks ago my Symphony II displayed the word "Safe" after the battery as disconnected and not amount of trying would let me enter the code in. The usual button combo failed and even leaving the ignition on for over 2 hours produced no results.

So the car went to the main dealer as they reckoned they could unlock/reset for £30 quid. However it transpires that when they put it on the diagnostics its come up saying "defective". They have quoted over £750 for a new one which I obviously wont be paying!

So I decided that in the short term I would just fit a standard DIN stereo until I have a think about what to do.

I have a working Pioneer that i have just removed from my Golf (due to an upgrade) and I purchased an Autoleads PCS9-401 (http://productfinder.autoleads.co.uk...d=125&pID=1864) and a dash adaptor.

When I went to install it this afternoon, there seems to be no power to the pioneer. This is despite me swapping over the red and yellow leads (although I think thats just the permanent live) and checking the fuse. The Autoleads connectors all fit together fine with the standard wiring.

When I plugged the old Symphony back it, it powered up ok as normal so the fuse in the box must be ok as well.

I also checked the fuse on the Pioneer and its not blown.

I have another couple of spare Head Units, a Sony and a JVC.

When you plug in the JVC its the same story, no power. When I plugged in the Sony there was no display but I could hear the CD drive spining up and I was able to pish the eject button and insert/remove a CD.

So have I missed something obvious here? Did I buy the wrong connecter lead from Autoleads?

My Symphony II has the power amp in the boot so I thought the PCS9-401 was the correct one but perhaps thats where the issue lies....

Grateful for any advice from anyone who has upgraded/replaced the standard unit. One of the things I was considering doing was purchasing a new Double DIN unit but until I get this single DIN one working I dont think I will chance it!
