    Folks,

I have a passenger front window with a grinding noise like glass getting scraped on the way up.
I suspect the window has come off the runners.
I’ve replaced the regulator on the driver’s door before so not concerned about fixing this issue.

The window is going up say about a third of the way and then coming back down about 2”. This will happen 3-4 times from open to fully closed
The only way I could get the window fully up was to incrementally jog it closed. This will also happen on both passenger and driver switches for this window

    Question:
    Why would this be happening?
Is there an overload safety feature built into these motors to allow the window to retract if it meets resistance?

Yes most cars with electric windows have a safety feature which prevents the windows closing when it meets resistance. This is due to a number of accidents years ago where kids accidently closed the window with their head sticking out of it.

I suspect the glass has come off the regulator, the glass is held in with plastic clicps and these can break.

This happened to me on drivers side. When investigating, the runner was attached to the window this was not screwed in but glued in. I got a tub of windscreen bonding and whacked that in, left it to dry and harden for 24 hours and have not had any problems since
