I recently had the boot wiring loom repaired by my trusty mechanic, ie rotten wiring cut away and new lengths soldered on and tucked inside. All was fine then one day the boot lock motor stopped working so I can only now open it with the key.
I had it checked out and was told that there was power going to the lock so it must be the lock itself so I bought a used and tested lock/motor but still the same problem.
I know it's not a big deal to only be able to open the boot with the key but I'm dreading the day I close the boot with the keys inside!!
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem after taking my lock barrel to bits to make that work.

There is a plate that the lock assembly bolts to. When you lift the tailgate handle a lug on it connects with a micro switch that in turn operates the the lock motor.

The the bracket the switch is fixed to needs to be very carefully bent towards the lug on the tailgate handle so the handle operates the micro switch. This fix will involve removing the tailgate internal trim as you can only carry out the tweeks with the complete latch assembly in place.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'd already sussed out the lock plate and micro switch and checked to see if the lug on the handle connects with it, and it does so I can only logically think that the wire has broken.
    I'll get it sorted.....eventually!
