Almost unplanned we have just acquired aBora with recaro leather seats and an Audi2.5Tdi quattro Avant with black leather both heated seats. After 40 years of motoring these seats have instantly become a "Must" and if any one is in two minds get some .Best extra I have come across since the heated rear screen

I dont think I could tolerate leather without them.Wonder how much they cost to run?Possibly as much as a small electric blanket .Those in the Bora seem to be Arctic rated and have to be turned down after the initial burst

First car I had with them was a Focus then an X trail and now the A6. Absolutely heaven.. Work shifts and getting into the car at 5am on a cold winters day is nice as the seat is warm after you have scraped the ice. Pity it doesnt have the heated front screen now that would be a quandry if you had to pick one or the other.....it would be tough

Never had a heated f/screen but the Bora has one buttonthat seems to direct the full force of the a/con on the screen which demists it so quickly. You could do that with the a4 but too fiddly and one button means you can use it in bursts. The Bora a/con is also clearly more effective than the A4 which is good also has the V engine but does 10 less mpg

Heated Front Screen is a fantastic idea, that unfortunately is under PATENT Laws (By Ford?)

    Safety costs money!

The mini has a heated screen so I think some BMWs may have his option - Ford did have it originally but I believe they have milked it now and as volvo AML and jag are all out the stable then I think that that it may be more open to the market

The only thing I really miss from my old Mondeo was the heated windscreen - pure genius from Ford.

I would be tempted to buy an old Ford for the winter months purely for the windscreen and keep it for a runaround as the 'full boot' windscreen fan from the A6 isn't near as good.

The heated seats in the A6 have been on a few times this week especially in the wee hours, by the looks of the weather forecast, they'll be needed again this week going to work.

From ti internet so must be true

The Ford patent for their heated front screen expired a number of years back. It's been availbale on VWs since about 2005, also on MINI and some other manufacturers. It is no longer exclusive to Ford Group cars.

I've had a few cars with it, and to be honest if your heaters are good then a heated front screen is no quicker to clear your screen than heaters, and they do break up after a few years leaving you with annoying strips of mist on the bits they dont clear.

Been using theBora demister a lot today and I cant see that anything else could be quicker to demist.Almost overengineered like the seats which I am hoping to put on full if we get the winter like last year
