    Hey all!

I'll be looking at changing all four tyres on my A4 quattro in the next couple of months. At the moment I've got one goodyear and three michelins on the car... or other way around! Last time I had the three tyres changed at ATS (father's ex company car) they charged £198/tyre. Seems a lot to me! I can get tyres slightly cheaper elsewhere, looking at protyre in bristol there's a bit of a selection. Falkens seem to be the cheapest tyre they do. Are Falkens any good on a quattro? Are they as grippy as a michelin / goodyear? Do they last as long? Any good / bad reviews about these tyres? I'm sure i can get all 4 changed for around £600ish, £200 cheaper than ATS!

I've also seen some alloy wheels on ebay... linky below. They come with Falkens, and can supply 235 40 18" for an additional £48 (they come with 225 40 18). So total would be just over £700. Are these alloys any good? Do you think they look ok on the A4 quattro?

    thanks in advance!

I have bought replica budget alloys in the past and i found that they scuffed up incredibly easy, having said that they are massively cheaper then buying genuine Audi. General feel amongst the B7 owners on this forum is that the RS4 alloys are the nicest looking.

Having recently done meticulous research into the best tyres for around £600 it came down to the following 3:-

    - Michelin Pilot Sport 3
    - Pirelli P Zero
    - Continental Sport Contact 3

All get excellent reviews and for me it was a case of where i could get the best deal.
    I opted for Michelin PS3 @ £654.64. (235 40 18)

    Hope it helps..

I quite like these as well, but not sure if they will look ok on a silvery blue A4 quattro.

cheers for the quick reply mate! It's crazy though that for an additional £50ish you can get a new set of alloy wheels!

oooh! Thanks! How'd you do that? Was it photoshop? I think i quite like those on there! Would be good to see a high resolution pic so it's a bit clearer... but that gives me a very good idea how it will look! Same colour as my car as well!

Have a look here for tyre info
    http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk

Any review I've seen of Falkens is generally positive although I've never used them myself.
Currently I've got Kumho Ecsta 31 tyres on my 19s but have just put the 18s back on. The only reason for this is that if the 18s lie too long with the tyres on them, they'll perish and crack so I'm aswell to get the use of them......they're on continentals with around 4-5mm of tread on them.

Don't know how prices compare but I'd consider the Kumhos previously mentioned, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (stunning looking tyre) and Avon ZZ3.
I appreciate everyone will have their own experience and opinion on tyres. The above is my own opinion and I'd happily buy/use any of the ones above based on my own experience with them in the past.

In my opinion the RS4 alloys are not the nicest - I prefer the RS6. Not to say I dislike the RS4 wheels - I just prefer the RS6

I had similar set of rs4 replicas a while back, and I wouldn't buy them again.the build quality is really poor.mine got bent after about 18 months of driving through london's potholes and had to bin them.they are a bargain for a reason. If I were you I'd just buy a good set of tyres.I've now got michellin ps3 all around and very happy.

Have got Falkens ZE 912 on the rear after 10k they are down to 7mm

Just put a pair on the front this week, size 235 40 18 and they were £110 each fitted at bracknell tyres.

So far they are just as good as Michellins and Continentals that i have had in the past, dry grip good, wet grip great. The treadwear is 360 for these too, which is far greater than the 220's the Michellins and Contis have but in the real world cant comment on how long they will last.

I do a 75 mile commute to work and back and most my tyres usually last 20k, im hoping to get 30k + from these .............

I quite rate falkens, I believe they come out of the michelin factory although dont quote me on that, however I have falkens on the front and cheap and nasty ling longs on th rear supplied by the dealer.. bloody dangerous in the wet.. front falkens grip really well in the wet and are spot on in the dry. the lings longs make drive in the wet very exciting... need to get shot of them PDQ
