Hi all, i have an 06 allroad 3lt tdi, and after 5 months of owning it now had the time to play/read the manual, My question is how on earth do you get the voice command to work because im sick of "PARDON" and "Cancel" being shouted at me, can you reset it back to factory fittings, I do talk clearly and have on occasion managed to get her to ask for a name and then a number, but i wanted the radio on!!

What am I doing wrong, i push the button and wait for the beep then I speak clearly with a one word command such as " radio, satnav, or CD" but no joy, "FUNCTION NOT POSSIBLE!!!"

    Hope you can assist,

    Matt

I think the voice only works for the phone if ts connected through Bluetooth or cradle.

Press the button and say help and it will show you the different options, speak clearly though!

I've found dial number, then she will say 'the number please' then you say the number. Most of the time the car gets it wrong so I end up saying cancel anyway.

Because of this, I've only used it once or twice in 2 and a half years.

Do you have a tel button on your control panel and if you do, what does it say when pressed?

Have you connected your phone to the car before?

It should work then, just hit the button and say dial number and see what happens!

Haven't tried it with my iPhone but it works with my Samsung.

I found the voice control don't work that well on any of me audi's. Even the main dealer salesman once said to me they don't work that well but as chris said say dial then you can say the number and that works ok. The newer one is abit better but still not great

If you press and hold the speech button on the steering wheel (or is it just press it and then don't speak?) the system will go through the commands it understands.

Bear in mind that there are two versions of speech system: the phone one, which only deals with the phone, and full SDS which deals with everything but is an optional extra that is not fitted to all cars (and I think is also not compatible with some other options).

Coincidentally I've just been flicking through my MMI operating manual and it says that the SDS has "Individual Speech Training" to adapt to your own voice using 40 phrases to repeat. I haven't tried it yet as it's chucking down outside, but I'll try it out tomorrow as I had no idea about this.

I noticed on the Q5 and A4 I had on loan (both had 3G HDD) and t allowed me to change radio stations etc with the button and I trained my voice with the numerous phrases it tells you to speak.

It did work better but I found it far far easier just to press the button for the radio, nav etc.
