    Hi All

I am New hear and looking for some help with the following codes.

    Audi A4 Cabriolet 2003 Diesel 2.5 TDi V6

My Father has a Registered Vag-Com and has managed to pull up the following.
But he is not a Mechanic and therefore the info stops at that..lol

I have fault codes as follows.
    01315
    18055
    18265
    18033
They all seem to relate to the following.
Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) ON or Active
    Engine control unit / Transmission.
Any Ideas on a fix or more info would be a great help.
    Thank You
    Katy

So you do understand that there is a communications problem with the tranny controller? Yes?

And in the help found on the Wiki, it suggests that you check the wiring to the tranny controller and specifically the CAN wires - Is that unclear?

And then it suggests that you try looking in Measuring Value Blocks 125 and higher.

So have you done these things or are you looking for the magic bullet of "Replace this part".. No one here is going to tell you what to replace. If you don't know how to begin the checks, then take the car to someone who can do it for you. This problem has no easy bullet fix. Could be the Tranny Controller has failed. Could be a wiring issue. Without further investigation, a solution will not be had.

    Hi Bruce

We think it is the tranny controller but not 100% sure.
We only had the vag-com a few days so still finding our way around it. ha ha ha
Trouble here in the UK is that Audi Tech Guys charge £145.00 per hour and quoted for a job which we got done for £350 and they wanted £900.00 to £1000.00 which is a big difference.
So a bit shy from the Audi guys no offence meant.
Have searched the web for similar problem to what we are getting when driving it but can't seem to find anything on it.
You also can't get a Bentley Workshop Manual for it so it is hard work.
The controller is in the box that much we found out through the web.
We think it is a combination of things at the moment and it can be expensive replacing everything.
It seems that we get different codes every time we plug the vag-com in which is throwing us.
THank You for the answers and can see what you are saying.
Car runs brill 97% so it can't be that bad.(Fingers and Toes Crosssed)

well if you can't get into a Bentley manual, then why not use the erWin.audi website - pay their fee for online access - in the US it is like $30/day... Then you will have the official Audi information on your tranny.

If the car is running and shifting correctly, then maybe you should just ignore the communications issues.

    UPDATE

    Hi All

    Update on my 2003 A4 Cabriolet 2.5 TDi V6
Well slung it into the specialists at Audi. Tonbridge Kent Uk
They took car for a spin with me and as normal for the start wouldn't do it. TYPICAL
However with time ticking on the money pot and frustration the Audi Tech guy said lets do it again.....So we gave her some boot (That's the Car) and down the hill we came and it did it....Did what you may say well it went into free wheel in the gearbox but was still in gear.
The Audi tech said he had never in all the time driven a car that did that. I said well my relation says at least it saves on Fuel...He laughed
Anyway swapped places and he drove it and tried several things with the multitronic but still kept doing it and I told him it would not reset until after about 3 hours cooling down.
YES it is heat related. It would seem that the ecu in the gearbox plays up when it gets very hot.hence all the codes as it stops communicating with everything or whatever it does.
So New Ecu needed....Well we hope this fixes it. will update you all.

    Katy
