4 days ago I spilled a small amount of coffee on my MMI unit. Over the preceding 2 days the whole unit acted erratically with lights flashing etc. The unit has now come back up and works flawlessly apart from the main select button (large knob), the return button and back forward buttons. These click normally but do not function. After reading a number of threads on forums my guess is that the coffee has caused a short on the main board below the MMI and this needs to be cleaned. Does anyone know of a dealer who offers this service? I have been to Audi Coventry who have told me they will not clean the unit but will only replace for new. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi

If you are tech savvy you could do it yourself. However most of the damage has probably been done now as the coffee will have shorted the PCB of the mmi knob (ideally you should turn off all electrics if it has a spill on it). However you could take it out. check with a continuity checker and clean off the board with pure alcohol. Other than that you could try independants as audi will rob you clean for that.

Thanks for this. I was hoping someone could recommend a garage/ engineer that would look in to it, clean the board to try to resolve the problem or quote to replace if not. From what I can tell this is quite a common issue. Any ideas?

Could you let me know how you get on Bp77? I asked about a similar thing a while back & didn't get much further after I spilled Sprite over mine.
