My key fob for the central locking does not lock or unlock the doors or boot or seemingly do anything. It became gradually weaker so I replaced the batteries but no luck. I'm having to unlock the passenger door manually then put the key in the ignition to turn the alarm off.

Before I ring the garage, is there anything simple I'm missing?

does the little red diode bulb on the keyfob come on when press the lock/unlock button on the fob?.

if it does't the the keyfob battery is faulty..

if it does, then you will need to synch. your keyfob to the car,the instructions on how to do this are is the owners manual if you got one.

Thanks for the reply SPS. My keyfob doesn't have an LED.

I'll get it to the garage but just busy with other stuff at the moment. :-)

The key should operate both the lock and the alarm. If you have central locking, the locks should all open and close when you open and close the driver's door lock. If these aren't working you may have a problem with the electrical connections on the door lock. Look here - http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1542461 for more information on the locks. There are posts on this forum which should explain how to re-sync the keyfob and the car's lock system, better than the manual.
