Hi I have just brought a 2007 A6 S-line with MMI Basic, well i think it is im not to sure how to tell the difference but it says basic on the front of the manual.

I wondered if anyone can answer a couple of questions for me, firstly is it possible to add to, or upgrade the sat nav to show speed cameras? Mine has the DVD system in the glovebox also when i enter a post code it doesnt seem to accept the full post code only the first 3-4 digits.

Secondly i have been trying to connect my phone via bluetooth, however when i press the phone button the screen shows telephone not available?? A bluetooth search on my phone shows no connection to the car? I am begining to think the car does not have this function but dont understand why its mentioned in the manuals and the car has the telephone button on both the MMI and the steering wheel?

Please if anyone has any answers to the above i would be very grateful for any advice or suggestions.

    Many Thanks

    Chris

Yes you have basic if your Nav CD is in the glovebox. Is your screen red?

You cant add speed cameras to the High let alone the Basic. But I think you can on the new A6/7/8

If you have a TEL button then it sounds like you have MMI Basic+ and the bluetooth was an optional extra on cars but the button was always there on the Basic+ system and the High whether bluetooth was fitted or not.

Normal Basic didnt have a bluetooth option so you only had 4 buttons on the control area.

Audi's Satnav never did accept full postcodes but I think the new A6/7/8 does from what I have read.

Edit - There was a recent thread on the MMI Basic bluetooth issue so have a look on the first few pages of the C6 forum.

It sounds like you have the same system as I have in mine - I've yet to use the Sat Nav properly, but from having a play with it, it accepts the first 4 digits of the post code, but then gives you a choice of streets etc. It worked getting me home (even though I knew the way). The real test will be a 300 mile drive in a few weeks....

Depends on where your destination & the age of your disc. The other day I had 2 destinations to find and as my disc is a 2006 disc and both places had been built within the last 5 years, so I was snookered. Luckily I had my old Garmin in the car with me. If I could have put in all but the last postcode digit, it would have at least got me to the general location. I wish Audi would sort this out so we could put the whole postcode in.

As I stated above, they have sorted it in the new cars. Something to do with the Post Office or something.

I refuse to use the postcode on my High, but if I really have to use the postcode, I find out what street it relates to then use the street instead.

Yeah, I think that's the best way tbh. The problem is if it's a new street, it won't recognise that either so at least if you have the option of putting all but 1 digit in the postcode in, it would get you close enough to be confident you're in the general vicinity. I'm glad they've sorted it out though, as soon as I can afford my new RS6, I'll reap the benefits - when is the Euro Millions lottery draw? Lol.
