    Hi all,

Picked up my new A6 S-line special edition on Friday on a 60 plate (got a Le Mans badge off the dealer though) - in polar blue. This is a replacement for a 2008 S-line. Now on my old car I could view the Map Display of the SatNav in pseudo 3D - 'position 3D'. This new one doesn't have this option - which I'm really surprised about. The old car had the DVD nav disc in the boot, this new one has it in the glove box with a couple of SD slots on the front. The nav disk is a 2010 MMI 3G (4G0060884F), so I'm suspecting I have MMI 3G low DVD version, as opposed to the HDD high version. Correct?

The old car had MMI version of 5140 (hence the option for 3D satnav view) and a 2008 nav disc. This new one doesn't even display a software version, I was expecting 5570, but maybe things have moved on. All it says is this:

    Software Version: BNav_EU_P0022_D1

    Nav database version: 4G0919884F_ECE_5.10.5

I'd really like to get the pseudo 3D satnav working again.

    Thanks. Chris

Yes you will have 3g Low DVD. The HDD version will have another control inside the central knob so thats an easy sign.

The 3G system wont be 5570 which was the last version of the 2G system

You can select the 3d type view if you press Nav and then setup and there should be a menu something like Orientation, Map View or similar.

    Hope this helps.

Edit - Just re-read your post and noticed you tried setting the position 3d. I could change it in the A4 loan I had which also had MMI 3G low.

Have a look in your manual and see if anything crops up.

    Chris,

Thanks. Yes I have the flat central knob - so that clears that up. There is nothing in the menus, orientation or map display to select 3D though. Very odd. I wonder if anyone else with 3G low could confirm this one way or another. Thing is too the dealer gave me the wrong manuals, so he's had to order some for me.

:EDIT: Just found out that even if I buy the 2011 nav update DVD I have to pay Audi to do the update with activation codes. I wonder now if there is an MMI s/w update available, but information is scarce.

i find it hard that audi can sell sat-nav that you can only enter the first 4 parts of the post code. I understand that in the new shape A6 sat-nav you can put in the full post code. I was so surprised when i got my new car it was the same as one near on 4 x 5 years older

@pxr5, I didnt know this about the DVD3G. I thought it only applied for the HDD to input the activation code. Will keep that in mind if I every cnage to a newer 3G model car.

Well now I have the MMI manual, there is nothing in there about a 3D mode for Map Type, so it's definitely not selectable on MMI 3G low. Odd that I had it on my old car with 2G.

    Hey guys,
I have just bought a 2010 A6 2.0 TDI Le Mans, so I assume we are having the exact same models, and I have the exact same firmware and problem as you.

As far as I have gathered information online, there is no such a thing as 3G Low. Low and High belong to 2G only. And I guess the 2G wouldn't show the height above sea level on the displat whereas mine does and I should think yours too.

It looks as if we are having the 3G but this was the initial phase of 3G before they start putting them in the new shape A4 and later in A6 2011 onwards and the rest. So I presume the functionality must be there, only that it's not been activated. I'm struggling to find out if there is a new firmware to upgrade to, I have read about the latest firmware to be 5750, however, elsewhere I have read from version 3 something onwards you have the 3D support! so it should even work with ours without any changes.

    <fake DVD info removed>

I noticed your post goes back to a year ago, and I don't know if you have found a solution to this or not yet. If you have, I would be interested to hear it and if not, should I find something useful I will post it here.

P.S I have got full MMI manual by the way and that doesn't say anything about the model of MMI we have in the car and neither anything on the 3D view.

    You will have 3G.

HDD 3G means a extra joystick on the central control knob at the gearstick.

DVD 3G means just the centre control knob.

3G+ is only available in the new A4 upwards

    Hi Chris,

So assuming I'm having a 3G, how can I get this 3D navigation to work on it?

As far as I can see on my MMI, the firmware version is 5105.
