    Hi All

Is there a way of checking the cars service interval setting

It is a PD long life passat 2004 but im sure after it went to halfords once for a service (Not my doing) it is now set at 10k

I Have a registered VCDS-LITE version but looks like its a no no on there look up chart

If it is set to 10k i want to put it back to 20k when i do the oil and filter change today

My thoughts, don't risk your engine for a few quids worth of oil, 10,000 miles are the limit (its not 20,000 anyway, it depends on driving conditions, not worth the risk IMHO)

mine also used to be on the long life servce intervals. If you want to be able to reset the service interval on the clocks it will revert to the 10000 mile interval. I will stay with that now,10000 miles is long enough for me between oil changes.

It is of course a matter of choice. The oils are different so you could go for 10k changes with standard oil, or 10k changes with longlife oil, or longlife changes with longlife oil (but you have to pay VW for them).

Personally I go for 10k mile changes with standard oil, as oil changes are a piece of cake (I've left off the undertray to make it easier) and I can't really see the point of paying for the more expensive oil for just 10k miles. My car's done just over 160k miles and uses very little oil between changes.
