Stop engine/oil pressure warning light comes on.

I have had the following parts fitted.

    Oil pump drive
    new oil
    oil pump
    balance shaft ***.

After each 1 was fitted the car was started and the same thing happens each time so I have fitted a oil pressure gauge and the pressure is 50psi at 800rpm and 70psi at 2000rpm.

You need to look at the measuring blocks for the instruments to make sure the dash is seeing the oil pressure signal.

DON'T Drive it, you may be a victim of the pump fail, driving it will make it worse.

Hi Crasher, can this only be done via a VW Diag?

Hopefully will be something like this as all else done and mechanical oil pressure shows good.

    Appreciate your response, thank you.

Yep, not driving it as worried it may do damage, although I deffo have good oil pressure as a mechanical gauge does not lie. It has to be a sensor or as Crasher says.

Will do more digging. Thanks for response anyway.

You need a diagnostic system that will show measuring blocks such as the VAG system or VCDS (VAG-COM).

As long as you are sure the pump is driving the oil ok it should indeed turn out to be a sensor.

I'd re-check any wires and pipes to it as well in case you've forgotten something, or a wire has broken, try to trace it back and look for kinks etc.

Had to give in and take to VW dealer.

They identified almost immediately that the cause was a break in connection to the signal for the oil pressure. Crasher, you hit the nail on the head m8.

So the £1800 I spent on all the other stuff was not needed at this moment, but the balance shaft was indeed severely worn and would have let go soon, so at least with all that work done I should not need worry about for a while now.

The VW technician found the break in the wire just behind the dash and cut and re-joined it and all is back to normal again.

Many thanks to you all for your input. I think these forums are invaluable.

    Thanks again, and happy motoring
