So, my S4 is in for a thermocouple recall today together with a service and map update. I'll let you know what software version is comes back with......

Was given a rather basic A4 (seems to have DVD nav and bluetooth and, erm, that's it) as a loaner and I miss my toys!

For a minute there I thought you meant it was having an engine map update which might be fun... but then I realised you meant sat nav map
Finally on the drive: S4 Avant S Tronic, Quartz Grey, toys

Engine map would be nice but currently requires either removing the ECU and posting it to the only guys (American) to have cracked the software (apparently a British company is almost ready with their version) or getting a crappy piggyback ECU from Germany which is of dubious value.

Problem is, Audi have significantly under-rated the power in the S4 to differentiate it from the RS5 and previous RS4, they claim 330 or so bhp when it's more like 360-370 at the crank, this means that tuning companies can quote a massive gain without actually doing anything

Once they have a remap I can get without dismantling my car, I'll be very tempted. Guys in the states are currently topping 420+ with replacement exhaust, cold-air intakes, smaller supercharger pulleys and a remap so there's lots of gain there if you have the cash (my wife says I don't have the cash.... ). I think they are running significantly below 5 seconds 0-60 and low 12 seconds for the quarter mile. Not shabby.

My S4 was in for the thermostat and water pump recalls this week too. Seems to have gone OK. If you don't mind me asking, I'd be interested to know how much Audi charge for the Map Update as I also have a September 2009 S4 with 3G MMI and was considering upgrading my map too.
Current car: B9 S4 in MisanoRed, driver assistance, light & vision, advanced key, hill hold, heated front/rear seats, memory seats/mirrors, flat bottomed wheel, piano black inlays, rear view camera and rear side airbags.
Gone: B8 S4 in BrilliantRed with TechPackHigh, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Airbags & TPMS and also gone B8 A4 1.8TFSI SE

Map update is €290 -around £250 or so. Car is still with the dealer but I should collect it today.

Hmm car back after 2 days but the advanced key won't work properly. Car will start ok and I can open the boot but the doors won't react to a touch of the handle to lock or to me pulling the handles to unlock. Buttons on key work fine.

Gah. Back to Audi tomorrow. Hope it's a coding issue and nit that they broke something.
