I had a flat tyre the other day and when i went to remove the locking nut i couldn't get a bite on it. No matter how hard i tried i couldn't get it off. I think it had been whacked right up with an impact wrench last time i had tyres fitted. Ended up using a chisel to remove the crome outer ring then hammered a socket over the top of the bolt then managed to remove it with a large pinch bar.

I now require a new bolt. I'm not looking for a locking bolt, just a new standard one.

Does anyone know where i can get one and what type i should be looking for? The ones i have seen, after having a quick search on the internet, have a tapered seat. the bolts on my car have a rounded/radius seat.

Any suggestions? or will it be a trip to the scrap yard?

    Thanks for any help.

    Rich.

Dealership or scrap yard. Dealers probably best as they'll have the one designed for your car and it'll be new, no chance of it having been in an accident or something which could stress it (although they're pretty robust things!).

Ok. cheers mate. I'll give the dealership a call tomorrow. See how much they can rob out of me for a bolt.

    Cheers.

General spares which are readily available I've always found priced at market rates, it's VW badged stuff where the prices tend to increase as they have to buy it from approved suppliers like we do!

Thanks for your advice mate. I've managed to pick one up from the scrap yard. He let me have it for a quid.
