Where to begin? I have had an issue with my a4 2.0ltr tdi 2006 s-line, since I bought it 6 months ago from a car dealer up north, it has a judder between 1500-2000 revs and when I go on the motorway if I put my foot down it tends to go into limp mode mainly in 6th gear. I usually turn off ignition and then back on to resolve this limp mode issue. I have taken it to several mechanics but no one has been able to help with a low boost issue fault which is intermittent, I was recommended to start process of elimination to start with simple things like change fuel filter and air filter which I did, then the fault code went but returned when it went into limp mode again on the motorway. last weekend I drove 600 miles to cornwall and back with no issues but then last night when I started driving home from work the oil light came on, I had about 8 miles to go, so continued my journey after 6 miles the car went into limp mode and the brakes seized up at the traffic lights, pretty scary as I could not press the brake peddal and almost had to use hand brake. Once I got home I waited for the engine to cool down then topped up oil however this made no difference the oil light is still on and the car is still in limp mode, so I can't drive it, and the brakes still seize up. also when I rev the car it makes a subtle hollow metal bang?? I am waiting on my mechanic to get back to me but if anybody has any idea what might be the problem please please help!!

You drove it with oil light on?!!

Oh dear, I suspect your oil pump/drive may have failed. You could be looking at a new engine depending how bad the damage is.

Never drive it with the oil light on.
