Hello the numberplate lights are not working, I have removed the tailgate trim and check for live at the multiplug, nothing.

So I have looked at the rubber boot that goes through the tailgate, there is no live there.

I have dropped the rear head lining down, I see there is a big multiplug, still no power there, the only power I am getting in that plug is to the heated rear screen.

All fuses all ok, does anyone have a clue or can tell me where the loom goes? or a diagram...

    Thank you,

I have the same problem, but I have not yet started to diagnose it.

Both number plate lights out, both bulbs okay.

I had assumed they are CAN bus light units somewhere? But not had the inclination to go looking yet.

    Hello Darren7

I had exactly the same problem on my 1998 Sharan and couldn't find the fault. I can't help you with the fault codes or any guidance with the wiring loom...however...

...I did fixed the problem myself via a little 'work around' that I am sure many on here would shout about, but here goes...

Assuming your rear drivers lights work (the ones that come on when you switch your lights on), then take a length of cable and wire your number plate lights to these.

Takes a little time in working the cable up through the rear body of the car through to the tail gate but it's an easy enough job provided you can identify the correct wiring to your drivers lights in your rear cluster. I chose the right hand side of the vehicle to work on as it had a larger removable panel than the left (and thus greater access) as it housed the car jack and wheel wrench but I'm not sure of the configuration on the 2005 Touran.

Anyway, the point is if you want your number plate lights to come on when you turn your side or main lights on and are reluctant to take the car to an auto electrician, then this is potentially an easy fix.

Suffice to say, mine still work!

Of course if you do find the route cause of the problem then I'd be interested to know.

    Best wishes

    Carouser
