Urgent help please guys

Hi all, im new here and bought my first VW golf 1.6.

I have just purchased some 18 inch wheels but they are rubbing quite a bit on the front.

It seems as if they are touching the suspension base ( sorry I dont know the correct name, but its the part the spring sits on )

The wheel details are : 18 inch, ET38 18X8.0 and tyre size is 245/45/18

Whats the problem please guys ?

I thought maybe some of those wheel spacers but the tyre already seems quite close to the outer arch

Hi ET 38 may will be sitting too far in to the strut housing plate tocheck this use a calculator such as this http://www.1010tires.com/wheeloffsetcalculator.asp
The tyres themselves are likely to have too large a rolling circumference making your speedo inaccurate the majority size for 18's is 235/40/18. There are many tyre calculators out there which will tell you what combinations are possible in regards to your sandard wheel size - or ask Volkswagen for advice. Remember that your insurance should be informed of any modifications or can invalidate your policy. Hope this helps
