Can anyone please me what the PD stands for in the MK4 GT TDI Golf models.

I am wanting to purchase one within the next month and am curious.

Any advice on purchasing the GT TDI 130 or 150?? I have tuning in mind also

    Many thanks.

i believe the older TDi's used to use a fuel pump whereas the PD versions have a presurised fuel rail accross the top of the head.

Essentially its more efficient and you can get more power out of them.

As i understand it, the PD is the same as the C in TDCi, it is a common rail, it is ment to supply all the cylinders with the same amount of fuel under the pressure, all of the time.

It's the generation after PD that will be CR.

PD, Pumpe Duse (pump injector), pronounced pump-uh durz-uh (as it's German, with an umlaut over the "u" in duse), is not common rail, it is pumpe duse! This is a far better system than common rail, especially note the pressure of 30,000 psi!

    Nah,

    It stands for

    "Pepperd Deutcha-sausage"

It is a little known fact the if the inlet tract is formed in the shape of a bratwerst sausage coupled with the indentations (which induce swirl) of the pepper-corns on the outside of the sausage that you get more power.

Fritz and the gang must of been off ther heads on many steins of beer to name the engine as they have as it is a bit crazy.

And who says the Germans havn't got a sense of humour?
